Valeria Scuderi’s work clearly shows her deep love for horses and greyhounds. Sometimes with obsessive detail, other times in a more playful fashion, she depicts these animals both in 3D ceramic sculpture and in hyperrealistic and technically complex mid-reliefs.
While seeking to have her sculptures “climb onto the walls”, she developed her own personal technique for reinforcing her very thin mid-reliefs, and learned to use acrylics and watercolors so as to be able to paint abstract backgrounds for her creations.
A Hospitality Manager by profession, Valeria discovered sculpture fortuitously at 50 years of age, upon enrolling in the Leo Tavella Sculpture Studio at the insistence of her sister Andrea. The 3rd dimension opened up a new and unsuspected world for her, and from that moment on, all her free time is devoted to her art.
